Reservations are required for all campgrounds. Operating seasons vary per campground (typically April through Columbus Day), so before making travel plans, be sure to check the Cape Hatteras National Seashores’ Campgrounds web page for the latest schedule, rates, and campground rules. There are modern restrooms, drinking water, and outdoor showers with cold water (inside a wooden shelter, so nobody can see you take a shower) at various locations around the campgrounds.
